It’s a beautiful morning in Thailand. ☀️
I’m currently in Chiang Mai’s old city and need to get some work done.
Now there are lots of charming cafés we could go to, but I need a place to really focus.
I’m looking for three things:
A table
Quiet atmosphere
Good AC
A great place to find all three is Café Amazon:
A blast of cold air hits me as I step inside. It’s quiet and there are plenty of open tables.
Perfect.
I step up to the counter and order. “Iced latte.”
“How much sweet?” the barista asks, pointing to a chart in front of the register.
Most coffee shops in Thailand ask you this. I usually never go over 25%. As spicy as Thais like their food, they can make their drinks and desserts just as sweet.
“No sweet,” I answer.
Then I scan my phone (Apple Pay) and wait for my drink.
Okay, time to work.
Drink in hand, I settle at a table across the room.
Today’s work is to continue developing the outline for my upcoming dystopian novel.
The outline is pretty far along— I should be able to start the actual writing soon.
I’ve learned from experience that the more developed my outline, the easier the rest of the process is.
👀 Did you know I’m releasing my novel for free here on C.S.M. Fiction?
A new chapter will be published every week starting this summer.
Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss out:
After today’s work on the outline is done, I read a chapter from The Art and Business of Online Writing by
on my Kindle. My coffee is now a melting pile of ice.
Let’s head to another spot in the old city.
The Lost Book Shop.
This is my favorite used book shop that I’ve ever been to.
My life advice: visit The Lost Book Shop, buy a worn copy of a James Bond novel, and then go out for some Thai food.
Time for lunch.
Today I’m having a Thai omlette with pork and white rice on the side.
The key is to mix the omlettte into the rice and then load both up with fish sauce and red peppers.
Delicous.
Wandering through Chiang Mai.
The afternoon heat is picking up now (104 Fahrenheit), so I’m going to head back to my Airbnb for a bit.
Thanks for exploring the old city with me.

Hmmm can’t seem to upload a photo I took of the White Temple, which I really liked.
Thank you. Just getting acquainted, so I don’t know whether you spent time in Chiang Rai, which I liked better.
