I’ve been traveling and writing for over two months now.
I’m currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand, but it’s time to move on.
What’s the next stop?
Bangkok.
But I'm not going to fly there— I’m taking the overnight sleeping train. 🚂
Let’s head to the train station.
The journey will take about 12 hours, with the train traveling through the night.
I booked a second-class ticket in a sleeping car.
The train leaves at 6pm, and I arrive at the station about an hour early.
Boarding the train.
After picking up some snacks, I find my seat in car 10.
Don’t let the appearance fool you, these seats will be transformed into bunk beds once the sun goes down.
All my belongings are in a backpack and duffel.
I usually would just have the backpack, but I’m carrying physical books with me right now.
🔍 A number of the books I’m carrying will be used to create the additional paid content that I publish every month.
Here is what paid subscribers receive in April:
Departure.
The train leaves at 6pm on the dot, Thailand passing by outside the window.
The sun goes down.
Attendants moves through the aisle, asking passengers to stand up so they can turn the seats into beds.
Each bed has its own curtain.
I made sure to book the lower bunk. It’s much easier to get in and out.
The AC is blasting. It’s so cold that I put on long sleeves for the first time in Thailand. Better than the alternative.
The morning.
I manage to get decent sleep during the night. I’m still pretty tired but it’s hard to go back to sleep once the sun creeps over the horizon.
Arrival.
12 hours later, we reach our destination.
Welcome to Bangkok.
New city, new adventure.
I’ll share another update with you soon.

Ugh! I am so insanely jealous right now! BKK is amazing! If you have time, be sure to visit some of the islands - Koh Chang, Samet, Krabi etc - the juxtaposition between them and the bustle of BKK is staggering but stunning. I know it’s touristy, but check out Koh Sarn Road - it was one of my highlights!
Wow, that’s so cool!
